The Implementation of Plastic Bag Reduction Policy in Indonesia

As a material that is commonly used in daily life, humans have been so dependent on plastic to the point that it causes negative effects. Up until this research is conducted, there are 29 cities/regencies and 2 provinces in Indonesia that already established policy to reduce plastic bags. Along with the development of this policy, several parties have conducted studies: some of them studied the impact of the policy to the consumer`s behavior, but so far there is no integrated research that studies the implementation of plastic bag policies at the national scale that involves multi-sector evaluation. Hence, this research was initiated to understand the various implementations of plastic bag reduction policy in Indonesia, to address the challenges of the policy from various sectors, and to identify lessons learned for future implementation.
