But first, what exactly is waste?<\/span><\/p>\n

Let\u2019s think of waste as simple as stuff or goods that you throw away because its usage has ended. It doesn\u2019t get used anymore because it has served its function.<\/span><\/p>\n

So, it is fair to say that waste cannot be ignored. It keeps coming and piling up in your house. The best thing to do is starting to do these 8 simple steps to \u2018go green\u2019:<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Stop Using Plastic<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    It should go without saying. For example, stop using bottled water. The last destination of bottled water shouldn\u2019t be in the blue bin on the curb because you shouldn\u2019t be buying it in the first place!<\/span><\/p>\n

    Use a reusable water bottle or tumbler so you can refill it whenever you want. This way there is no waste created in the first place.<\/span><\/p>\n

    1. Unplug Appliances<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      There are times when appliances are not in use and that\u2019s the right time to unplug it. It\u2019s pretty simple, but apparently, many people fail to do it.<\/span><\/p>\n

      An easy one to start with is unplugging the battery charger once you have finished using it. Once it becomes a habit, you are already involved in living a go-green life.<\/span><\/p>\n

        It may sound dirty, but you should save more water! Try to use it wisely, something as simple as turning off the faucet when you need to shampoo your hair or brush your teeth can save a lot of water.<\/span><\/p>\n

          Not only will you start living more \u2018green\u2019, but you will also live longer because you will strengthen your cardiovascular health. It also saves money by not having to buy gas, and stops your car or motorcycle making nasty air pollution.<\/span><\/p>\n

            Instead of purchasing new furniture, check local thrift stores to find second-hand products. These places are likely the only place to find hidden treasures. It\u2019s not rare to find second-hand products in great quality. Be smart when buying!<\/span><\/p>\n

            1. Keep Electronics Out of the Trash<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

              You should keep your cell phones, computers and other electronics out of the waste bin as long as possible. Donating or recycling are the best options for your electronic waste.<\/span><\/p>\n

              Electronic waste contains mercuries and other toxins. It sure is a huge problem if they end up on landfill because the toxins leech into our soil and water making us sick! <\/span><\/p>\n

                Save some space for your own garden in your modern home and start doing urban farming. If you only have a balcony, start growing things like tomatoes, chillies, lettuces, beans, peas and herbs. By doing urban farming, you can also start composting your organic waste.<\/span><\/p>\n

                If you cannot grow anything, appreciate local farmers instead by purchasing their crops. By doing this, you will reduce carbon emission that is usually generated by crops transportation.<\/span><\/p>\n
